I read on another post that this weeks ep was crafted to give Joely Richardson a break, as one of her relatives (a Redgrave) died. Was it her mother, Vanessa? I hope not….she was great!
Yes, Vanessa Redgrave, Joely’s real-life mom, played her on the show. Besides her aunt, she has a sister, Natasha Richardson (starred in “Nell” and “The Parent Trap”) and at least one other sibling, a half-brother (son of Franco Nero). There’s a Jemma Redgrave, who appeared in the film “Howard’s End”, but not sure of the relationship (daughter?). Then there’s her famous father, Michael (I think) Redgrave, a well-known, British actor.
P.S. I was under the impression that, on Nip/Tuck, Julia only THOUGHT her mother died in the plane crash, but came home to find her there, alive (she hadn’t taken that flight). Was that another hallucination?
Thanks all. Lord Z: someone in another question answered “a Redgrave died…I’m not sure which one”. They didn’t say who it was…that’s why I asked!

Vanessa Redgrave, Joely’s real mother, played her mother on the show. She died in the show, but did not die in real life. In fact, I haven’t heard of a Redgrave dying in many years. I just checked IMDB and the most famous ones, Lynn and Vanessa, are indeed still alive.
